26 nov: odac gathering (for memory's sake)


Step 1:
Crop the pic to remove unwanted items like tissue paper box, cup etc.
Step 2:
Change the wall colour to make the entire wall colour more consistent.
Step 3:
Adjust the input and output levels of the photo to 'brighten' up the faces and the lighting.
Step 4:
Design a border for the pic. Add this as a new layer to the existing pic.
Step 5:
Add a layer of text. Choose a nice font and the right size.

Final product:
Edited photo for memory's sake.

P.S. Just for self-amusement.
How long do I need to edit the above photo? 20 min. Started at 1605; ended at 1625. How long do I need to make this photo into a photo-card (think: EZ-link card size)? Less than 5 min. Hmm... Think I'm getting more and more proficient at it. Haa... I'm BHP.

26 nov: odac gathering

I joined the group late, around 6 plus in the evening. We had dinner at the hawker centre opp. Harbourfront. Nobody wanted to sit in an air-con restaurant and eat over-priced food. Haha... Value for money was still the key concern, especially now that we were no longer little princesses or little princes who just stretched out our hands to our parents to get pocket money. All the shillings and pennys had become such precious treasures in our pockets. Speaking of how hard it is to get our hands on that monthly pay-check!

Eugene was going to drive us to HF's house when we saw this beautiful, golden, shimmering tower with a star mounted at the peak of Mt. Faber. We requested Eugene to drive us there. But we ended in a jam. Cars didn't move a single inch. By the time we saw that tower, all lights were switched off, and the tower was no longer beautiful, golden or shimmering. What a disappointment. To add on, poor Eugene was stuck in the jam with tummy-ache.

At HF's house, we made ourselves comfortable. The rest joined us not long after. We ate, talked and watched crappy movies on the TV. It was a good gathering. No sun and sand, but good interaction nevertheless. We have not met up in a while. Everyone's busy. Some of us have been working for some time, some still looking for jobs, and a couple of guys are finally in their final years of uni.

Time flies. I look forward to the next gathering.

Do dreams come true?

Today is the day the revision started. It simply could not have been put off any longer. All my letters, magazines, work files and books had been started piling at various corners of my room. They were getting out of hand, and a cleaning-up session was inevitable. There is simply no way I can study in a room like this.

I've heard my colleagues and my friends wanting to go and watch Harry Potter. I was having this wierd question in my mind, why didn't anyone ask me if I wanted to watch it with them? Most of the times, little things as such don't matter to me. But the question somehow stuck in my mind for a while for no apparent reason. It wasn't their fault that they had not asked, people are the way that they are, my little eccentricities are of no direct relation with that. I can't shake off those feelings in me. I simply can't rationalise with reasons that comply with my own 'eccentric' logic. I can't help but feel the way I do.

I've not read any books on Harry Potter. But the stories that have been made into movies had been amazing so far. I personally think that movies are truly amazing tools that transform fantasy into reality. Transforming fantasy into reality has been my biggest dream so far. I've never made a movie of my own to this date. Not even a short one, that truly belongs to me. I've the ability, skills and technical knowledge, but I've never got near to actualisation. Ideas have overflowed my mind ever since I was in touch with video production. But time was a crucial factor. I wouldn't mind if my creation stays hidden in my closet, because every piece of work involved is worthwhile. If I have created my very own movie, one that truly belongs to me, how remarkable that would be.

Right now, dreams are not the top priority on my list. I needed to complete my cleaning-up of my room and get down to serious revision.

I would like to believe that dreams do come true one day.

12 nov seafood @ No Signboard

Kind of miss JY, LZ and pals. Becoz of work, everyone's so busy and no time to meet up. JY sms-ed to go shop for presents tog, but no time too. Always so busy. 真是天生劳碌命！

No Signboard Seafood

Had a good dinner. Met new friend called Kim Teck. Haa... quite a funny guy. He's got this certain expression very funny one. You gotta look at him to understand why I say so. :-P

About the food. Wheat prawns were well-cooked. Taste was okay. Nothing too exciting. Crabs were great. Too much for so few of us though. But I was surprised these guys ate so little. I always had the perception that guys could eat a lot. At least mr koh does. So does my little brother. The chiili crab gravvy was kind of wasted as a result. 2 plates of fried rice, varied styles. 1 plate of kang kong. Wierd combination, I'd say. Fish goes better with stir-fry kang kong with chilli padi. Then again, not everyone is particular. Maybe if I'm eating with closer friends, I'll voice out my 大胆 opinions. LOL

So what's my ideal seafood feast then?

Dish no. 1: Cold dish - jellyfish soaked in vinegar OR 1/2 dozen fresh oysters
Dish no. 2: steamed 醉虾
Dish no. 3: Mackerel fish wrapped in red hot chilli (Think: Malacca Nonya style!)
Dish no. 4: Stir-fry kang kong with chilli padi
Dish no. 5: Chilli crab topped with a lot of gravvy + fried buns (at least 2/pax)

Yummy! *slurps* Wait till I get another chance at another seafood feast!

这里绝对不是浪得虚名. Although the drinks are really quite limited, but the ambience 绝对一百分! Cosy place for gathering, pak-tor-ing etc etc. A pity didn't bring camera. Else should have taken pics of the dinner and the tok-cok session. Especially now that I really feel that I've so little photos only!

I hvn't taken photographs in ages. Not as in I hvn't taken enough photos and videos at work. But photos of me, myself, me!

I miss my round face, my cute smile, my sparkling eyes and my beautiful hair. Hahahaa... Kind of self-admiring, but so what? The thing is, I miss seeing myself in photographs!
